Volkov family to attend Of Sand and Silk exhibition

Oracle Capital Group’s sponsorship of Alexander Volkov’s solo exhibition Of Sand and Silk at Christie’s from 4 – 21 September will be further enhanced by the presence of members of Volkov’s family.

Volkov’s sons, Valery and Alexander, and his grandson, Andrey, will be attending the opening in London and will remain in London for several days thereafter.

Valery Volkov is the artist’s eldest son, born in 1928 and an artist in his own right. Valery is a respected art critic in the former Soviet region and, along with his brother Alexander, has been instrumental in achieving international acclaim for their father’s work.

Alexander Volkov (son) is a sculptor. One of his best known pieces is a bust he created for his father’s tomb in Tashkent.

Andrey Volkov is also an artist and is a co-curator of the Of Sand and Silk exhibition.

The Of Sand and Silk exhibition is a non-selling show of Alexander Volkov’s work, the first of its kind outside Russia and the CIS. Volkov is regarded as one of the most important Russian artists of the beginning of the 20th century, but is little known outside his home region. The exhibition will show works from private collections and the Savitsky State Museum, which houses the largest collection of his pieces.

Oracle Capital Group looks forward to some of the fascinating insights that Alexander Volkov’s family will share with about his life and work.
