The Wealth Creation High

The Wealth Creation High

According to Forbes magazine, most billionaires won’t be able to spend all the wealth they’ve got. To do so, they would have to spend almost non-stop and not have any new income.

But that doesn’t mean that billionaires don’t want to become even richer. Ethnological research shows that a considerable percentage of self-made ultra-rich people (with a net worth of US$500 million or more) are very much focussed on increasing their wealth. The reason for this is the satisfaction which comes with accumulating even larger personal wealth, also known as “the wealth creation high”.

The combination of wealth creation and a desire to change or improve the world often increases this impulse. Personal life circumstances can motivate wealthy people to support and contribute to certain charities or research. Earning money to donate to this cause can become the main inspiration.

The “wealth creation high” is not limited to those who are on the top of the financial pyramid. It is also motivates less wealthy people. It is both an effective stimulator for those who keen to generate vast personal capital as well as for those who are happy to make less.

Many self-made millionaires are socially generous, which can also explain their ongoing desire for more money. Once the certain level of personal wealth has been achieved, those who want continue to increase their fortune do it mostly for the sake of psychological rewards, rather than financial.
