Oracle Capital Group’s Chairman Speaks at Shorex Forum 2014

The Chairman of Oracle Capital Group, Martin Graham, was a speaker at the annual Shorex Wealth Management Forum, which was held at The Westbury Hotel in London on 9 October. Mr Graham took part in a panel discussion entitled, New Tools and Strategies for Family Offices.

Shorex is a specialist and exclusive media group which was established in 1996 for the wealth management industry and the high-end luxury market. They organise events in Europe, North and South America and Asia, and have catered for more than 40,000 professionals and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) since they were founded. The company aims to provide an effective networking platform where HNWIs and their advisers can forge productive relationships and new business opportunities.

This year’s London Forum focused on centres of emerging wealth by specifically inviting family offices, private bankers and fiduciaries from London and across Europe who jointly represent over 1,000 HNWIs from countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Brazil, China, South Korea and India.

The session in which Mr Graham participated covered a wide variety of issues which are of the utmost importance to family offices and their clients. The panel discussed the use of private funds and SICAVs to consolidate a family’s investments; how to mitigate risk and preserve wealth by using smart asset allocation; and the implementation of a rational, staff turnover-proof electronic filing system for family offices. Panelists also considered the questions of Asset management versus Wealth preservation; and Family office-friendly equity investment portfolios.

The panel session rounded off a day of intense and highly relevant discussion. Immediately preceding it was a summary of the business implications of the current sanctions which have been applied against Russia by the European Union and the USA. Earlier in the day, presentations were given on a wide range of topics, such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs); Hong Kong companies as a vehicle for business and investment in China; and the tantalisingly entitled, What Do You Know About Gold?
