Oracle Capital Group to Participate in Adam Smith Conference, October 2013

For the third year in a row – and for the second time in 2013 – Oracle Capital Group will be participating in the Adam Smith International Conference.

Adam Smith Conferences are high-calibre industry forums which attract thousands of key decision makers from governments and industry each year. Many of these events are now the established annual gatherings for industry players, which offer unrivaled insights into market trends and developments, investment opportunities, and commercial strategies for success.

Martin Graham, Chairman of the Advisory and Management Board at Oracle Capital Group, and who will be moderating one of these sessions at the conference, says: “Oracle Capital Group has enjoyed contributing to high-level debate and discussion at previous Adam Smith Conferences and we look forward to doing so again. We constantly strive to keep ourselves up-to-date with the latest developments and ideas in the multi-family business, the better to advise our clients.”

The conference, which will run from 8-10 October, is entitled “Private Client, Russia & CIS”. It will focus on the most relevant issues for international planning for high net worth individuals from Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union.

Mr Graham will moderate and Svetlana Ryabokon, Head of Wealth Structuring and Fiduciary Services at Oracle Capital Group, will be contributing to the panel on Wednesday, 9 October, in a session entitled: “Focus on family offices working with clients from the CIS and Russia”.

Topics debated will include which family office services and products are currently in demand with wealthy Russian and CIS families and why. The panel will also examine building a new aproach for serving HNW and UHNW individuals, why many clients prefer to work with family offices rather than with banks directly, what a bank’s expectations from a family office are in terms of information about the client and how realistic those expectations are.

Dr Yuri Rapoport, Executive Director of Oracle Legal Case Management, will be contributing on the panel in a following session entitled: “Developments in international taxation and legislation pertinent to Russia/CIS private clients.

Issues under discussion will be the double taxation treaty Malta signed in April 2013 with Russia and what opportunities this opens up for private clients from Russia, as well as other anticipated treaties and important developments in other jurisdictions. The legal help Russian/CIS private clients typically require and how to meet these requirements in the most efficient way will also be considered, as well as how to optimise the system of legal fees and the role of legal case management.

In April, Oracle Capital Group participated in the Adam Smith Conference in Moscow on Wealth Management and Private Banking:  Russia and CIS, where Ms Ryabokon spoke on “Exploiting Asian Growth Opportunities” and Mr. Graham also moderated.
