Oracle Capital Group now a Platinum Patron for the Royal Academy of Arts

In January 2012, Oracle Capital Group established Oracle Capital Charitable Foundation. In just a few short months, the foundation’s commitment to supporting charitable, social, community and arts projects has resulted in several successful endeavours. Two notable events were the concert of highly acclaimed violinist Maxim Vengerov (April 5) and the exhibition of sculptor Dashi Namdakov (May 16 – July 12). Oracle Capital Group was honoured to be a corporate sponsor for both of these events featuring celebrated world class artists.

Oracle Capital Group continues to support the arts and is now proud to announce that it is a Platinum Patron of the Royal Academy of Arts.

The Royal Academy of Arts is an independent, privately funded institution, founded in 1768, whose purpose is “to promote the creation, enjoyment and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions, education and debate.”

The original patron of the Academy was King George III who insisted on a set of rules to guide the academy’s conduct – rules which still guide the institution to this day. The Academy currently has 80 Academicians and is governed by a Council. These Academicians are all practising artists and craftsmen – painters, sculptors, architects, engravers and printmakers who are elected into the academy by their peers. Their goal is to “promote the arts of design… to present a broad range of visual art to the widest possible audience.. to stimulate debate, understanding and creation through education; and to provide a focus for the interests of artists and art-lovers.”

The Royal Academy of Arts aims to fulfil its goals through Exhibitions, education programmes and through the Academy’s art school, known as “The Schools”.

The Summer Exhibition, currently attracting about 10,000 works, has been held without fail yearly since 1769. These exhibitions have become the most important and influential arts exhibitions in the country since the 1920’s. This is in addition to a continuous year round schedule of smaller exhibitions, seminars, debates and education programmes.

The Royal Academy’s Art School is the oldest in Britain and offers a unique three year post graduate course to 60 select students.

Oracle Capital Group’s donations as a Platinum Patron helps the Academy to continue to pursue its goals. Specifically, the funds go towards the education costs of one of the students, running 12 workshops for teachers, providing 100 free public gallery talks, as well as refurbishment of buildings and the cataloguing, digitising, transporting and archiving of many works of art.
