Will Britain get talents?

The United Kingdom welcomes international students by changing Tier 2 Visa rules. The new system will allow them to stay to work in the UK for up to two years after graduation. The number of post-study visas will have no cap and is effectively limited only by the number of applicants.

Eligibility criteria are simple: students must have a completed undergraduate level or above degree at a higher educational institution in the United Kingdom. That institution must have a credible record in immigration.

This visa route would allow graduates to switch to a skilled worker visa (Tier 2) after their Tier 4 visa (student) comes to an end. Such “switchers” will need to find a sponsor and a job that meets visa requirements.

The post-study route was closed in 2012, but it is now being reopened. Re-introduction of such visa would allow the UK job market to become more open to graduates and international students.

With a two-year post-study visa, graduates can benefit from much-needed time to consider their options and find the right opportunities to launch their early career in the country where they completed their studies.
