Successful Volkov Exhibit comes to a close

September 21 marks the closing of “Alexander Volkov: Of Sand and Silk”, the first solo exhibition of the renowned artist outside of Russia and the CIS. The highly successful exhibition was held at Christie’s from September 4th through the 21st and was sponsored by Oracle Capital Group.

Oracle Capital Group, which has worked with Christie’s previously, has placed a high priority in supporting the arts, and particularly in showcasing Russian, Asian and Eastern European artists.

The non-selling exhibition featured over 50 of Alexander Volkov’s early works which portray the changes in Central Asia during the first half of the twentieth century. Volkov is one of the most prominent early 20th century artists in Russia whose works are on permanent display at museums such as State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and the Karakalpak Museum of Arts in Nukus.

The exhibition was made even more special by the attendance of the late artist’s family. Alexander Volkov’s sons Valery and Alexander, as well as his grandson Andrey, were in attendance at the opening of the exhibition.

The show was co-curated by Andrey Volkov and Meruyert Kaliyeva and was received with high praise in the London art scene. According to Mr. Volkov’s son Alexander, the exhibition was “a milestone in the history of our father’s legacy...We would like to thank Christie’s and Oracle Capital Group for making this project possible...we hope that this exhibition will expand the recognition of our father as a significant international artist.”

Attendance at the exhibit was also highlighted by important figures such as Marinika Babanazarova, Director of Savitsky State Museum of Arts of Karakalpakstan, and other significant critics, journalists and guests. The multi award winning publication Spear’s published an article praising the exhibition, Oracle Capital Group’s initiative in bringing Volkov’s work to London and detailing Volkov’s career.

Though the exhibition closed on September 21st, most people are excited at the prospect of future events and collaborations between Christie’s and Oracle Capital Group. Alexis de Tiesenhausen - International Head of the Russian Department at Christies - noted that this was the second successful project between the two companies. Co-curator Meruyert Kaliyeva said: “We are likely to be working with Oracle again because of the popularity of the 2010 exhibition and of course this exhibition. I think we will co-operate on quite a regular basis.”

A Decade of Success – Oracle Capital Group Celebrates 10 years

Oracle Capital Group recently celebrated its 10th anniversary at a private reception at Christie’s.

In ten short but very successful years, Oracle Capital Group has grown into a leading multi-family office in London. The group, which provides a full range of services including corporate, fiduciary, investment, wealth structuring, asset protection, property development and relocation services, has earned a great reputation in providing bespoke services for Eastern European and Russian clients.

Over 100 employees from Oracle Capital Group’s offices in London, Luxembourg, Geneva, Nassau, Moscow, Almaty and Limassol were joined by clients, colleagues, family and friends for a private viewing of Oracle Capital Group Charitable Foundation’s latest project: sponsorship of the solo exhibition at Christie’s – “Alexander Volkov: Of Sand and Silk”.

The memorable evening provided a glimpse of how much growth and success Oracle Capital Group has achieved in the past ten years, and also an exciting reminder of the potential for even more greatness that lies ahead.

Oracle Capital Charitable Foundation – a year in review

Oracle Capital Group has consistently shown its commitment to corporate and social responsibility. The company’s founding partners believe that active involvement in the betterment of society and the community is a vital part of corporate and private life.

This year, Oracle Capital Group established The Oracle Capital Charitable Foundation (The Foundation) in order to provide a structure and organization for this belief in social responsibility. When The Foundation was established, Oracle Capital Group promised to offer educational grants, support social causes and the Arts. The Foundation’s activities this past year have shown that Oracle Capital Group is true to its word, and have proven more successful than anyone had planned or anticipated.

The Foundation’s commitment to the environment was shown by it support for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Woods Project. Oracle Capital Group’s employees went hands-on and boots-on-the-ground planting trees and helping improve the landscape as part of this project.

This year, The Foundation and London School of Business and Finance announced a new joint scholarship program aimed to provide aid to nationals of former USSR countries who wish to earn Masters in Finance and MBA degrees at LSBF. Additionally, The Foundation is a benefactor to Macmillan Cancer Support – which provides practical, medical and financial support for cancer patients.

The Foundation’s work also focused on the Arts – especially the support of artists from Russia, Central Asian and CIS countries. Even before The Foundation was established, Oracle Capital Group showed its support for the arts in 2010 when it sponsored “Treasures of Kazakhstan” – a unique exhibition of Kazakh and Russian art being displayed outside of Russia for the first time at Christie’s. The successful partnership with Christie’s continued this year with the exhibition: “Alexander Volkov: Of Sand and Silk”. Once again, Oracle Capital Group sponsored an exhibition which showed unique and important works of art being showed outside of Russia and CIS countries for the very first time. The success of these two significant and historical exhibits makes both Christie’s and The Foundation hopeful that their partnership continues, and they will be able to present more unique and exciting events in the future.

One of The Foundation’s projects significantly altered one of London’s most iconic landmarks this past year. For several months, the world famous Marble Arch was flanked by an imposing and impressive sculpture of Genghis Khan. The five metre bronze statue was a special commission created by Dashi Namdakov with the Foundation as a leading supporter of the artist.

Oracle Capital Charitable Foundation also actively supported the performing arts this past year by being a corporate sponsor of Wigmore Hall – a leading recital venue in central London. The Foundation was especially proud that their sponsorship of Wigmore Hall supported the April concert of Maxim Vengerov – a highly prominent violinist from Russia who is a professor at the Royal Academy of Music and a UNICEF ambassador.

The past year has been filled with great achievements and memorable events for Oracle Capital Charitable Foundation. The promise of social responsibility and active community involvement has been kept, and will continue to be a priority for Oracle Capital Group’s founders, partners and staff.
